THE BENEFITS OF BEING POLITE

We all believe in the philosophy that the essence of life is talking. Communicating with others is as necessary as food. If we don’t, we tend to fall ill. Today people are rarely talking.
The art of conversation has almost died down. People just usually sit and chat in their office breaks about things that are not even worth thinking about. Let’s face it; we all are going towards doom where each one of us is talking to pass/kill time. The art of using communication is no more existing. People are concerned about others influence in their lives and not about their influence in others life.
It is an unbelievable thing that an effective communication through polite words can have wonderful impact on you and others lives as well. You can win the hearts of many people, climb the corporate ladder, have promotions but not have wonderful relationship with people around you.
The path to a successful life comes thorough the stairs of politeness. An act of politeness can do wonders that no monetary thing can do. Let us go deep in the art of efficient speaking by these methods.

Talking about ideas and not people
It’s truly said, great minds talk about ideas and small minds talk about people. Politeness is an attitude of life. Talking about ideas heightens your politeness towards innovations and stimulates your mind too. This is effective for the speaker and the listener both. To start talking about people you can breathe out all negative energies about anyone: latest crush, which dress she wears, which perfume she uses, her bad attitude. The idea is that everything you talk about people usually comes negative. This develops a feeling of self love and comparison at all means. You do not value your life as much as you do to others.
Using intellect instead of the tongue
Usually people chatter on at length not worrying about the impact it would have on others. Since people are so occupied in themselves they’d rather talk about themselves only. This instigates them to speak rubbish endlessly. Have you ever thought how much of an impact we can have on others by our words? By trying to use our brains before speaking, we will save others sentiments and preserve a healthy relationship between our near ones.
Avoiding gossip
The one who usually starts a gossip or backbiting about someone does not know that he is the one to have the last laugh. People who start commenting and spreading rumors about others usually end up in a muck of politics and bickering about themselves from the other end. Such people should be avoided at arm’s length. Even listening to gossip is as harmful since the listener had the power to listen to negative communication. This unhealthy gossiping could have been stopped if the listener would have ignored the speaker.
Exchange of compliments
We should not limit our compliment intake be restricted to our close relatives. People like our helpers such as servants, cleaners, house maids are those on whom we can count on. Speaking politely to them will ensure that your day is made. They are the ones who offer your services to make your life comfortable. So we should make endeavors to enrich their lives by complimenting and praising them.
Look for positive things in negative people
We all have negative and positive sides. Nobody on this earth has a squeaky clean nature. We all have flaws, however some people are observed negatively by their rude behavior and we become very judgmental about them putting them in the negative category. We should understand that people who are rude have their own weaknesses. They do not choose to be like that. Frustrations at work or domestic front make them act in this behavior. Such people should be offered more help than others comparatively. Talking politely with them will make a difference in their lives and yours too.
Feel positive about you all the time
Quite often we do not realize that we subconsciously become negative. Pent up emotions and unfulfilled desires make us behave rudely towards others and emit negative radiations from the body. Thus we tend to overreact and become rude and harsh to others in some or the other way. This might demolish the social circle that we have. So politeness in the hearts at all means will result in polite attitude.
Whatever is rested in your heart is bound to come out in the open some or the other day. Make sure you have a prosperous life with a polite attitude and selfless love. This will make you immortal in the hearts of millions as people are going to remember for your polite words and not by your status.
A photographer once clicked a photograph of ex-president of India, Dr. Kalam with a shawl placed on his shoulder. After the photo shoot was over, the photographer rudely took off the shawl and walked off. The President smiled. After being asked about his composed behaviouir, he politely answered that maybe the photographer needed the shawl more than he did, and continued his work.
People with big positions come and go but it is only their humble nature that draws millions of people towards them. Their polite words filled to the brim with modesty and love melt the hearts of even the rudest amongst the crowd. By talking politely to all we can make an impact on others lives.

5 Ways to SuperSize your Life

1. Say Yes to Life."Be not afraid of life. Believe that life is worth living, and your belief will help create the fact." -Henry James
Saying yes to life allows wonderful blessings to come to you. Say yes to opportunity and success. Say yes to a life that you live by your standards. Say yes to making your own decisions and not seeking approval of others. Say yes to a fulfilling and rewarding career. Say yes to a relationship that energizes, supports and stimulates you. Say yes to a promising future. Say yes to living without guilt, resentment or regrets. Say yes to spending more time on your self improvement. Say yes to living an authentic life. Say yes to taking chances and freeing yourself from fear. Say yes to happiness and achievements. Say yes to a well-lived life.

2. Love Yourself and Others Unconditionally."Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude; it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs....."I Corinthians 13: 3, 5)
When was the last time you loved without hesitation or caution? Withholding love as a means of control only leads to distrust and resentment. Loving unconditionally means loving without judgment. Free yourself from unrealistic expectations and accept the person you love for who they are. Do not expect your needs and wants to be fulfilled by someone else. Allow those you love to express themselves without fear of rejection. Do not punish yourself or loved ones for past mistakes. People use the word love very loosely, but do not stop to think of the implications of using the word. Take the time to be responsible in how you show love. Allow yourself to love and be loved.

3. Take Risks "There came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." - Anais Nin
Everything in life involves a risk. Are you allowing fear of rejection and failure to dictate your life? Fear inhibits success. Take chances and free yourself from limiting beliefs. Taking risks empowers you to take charge of your life. Be curious about life; experiment and try new things. Set goals for yourself and take action. Step out of what is safe, comfortable and familiar to you. Examine what feelings emerge when you are thinking about taking a risk. Ask yourself, "What am I afraid of?" Concealing yourself in a safe container prevents you from exploring other possibilities. Embrace the unknown and anticipate success. You will never know the outcome if you don't take the risk.

4. Make the Impossible, Possible "The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty."- Winston Churchill
Think it can't happen; then it won't. It is possible to get through the difficult times in life. Learn from failures and take responsibility for your life. Listening to your inner critic can sabotage your dreams. Silence the critic by reaffirming all the things you are capable of doing. Dream big and be excited about your future. Find and release your untapped talents. Believe in your abilities and discover what you have to offer the world. Think about all the things you can't do and try to do them. Think back to a time, when something was difficult and you were able to overcome the challenge. Continuing to live life in a safe container doesn't help you gain anything in life. Take the necessary actions to achieve your goals. Stop assuming and start achieving!

5. Make Your Life Really Count. "How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives."- Annie Dillard
What's your legacy? How do you want to be remembered? The life you live defines who you are and the choices you make will determine what impact you will have on the lives of others. Never underestimate the power of your words and actions. You were uniquely created to make a contribution to the world. It is your right and your obligation to make your mark in this world. Surround yourself with people who are supportive, positive and encouraging. Show appreciation and gratitude to those around you. If you have a message to share, then share it with the world. Staying small and thinking small will not get you where you need to be in life. Starting today, have a new perspective on life. Start a new chapter in your life.

7 ways to beat your worries

Can’t stop worrying? Try out our seven ways to beat the bother and boost your happiness. Whilst worrying is necessary for spurring us on to achieve our goals, chronic worrying can disrupt the balance in our nervous system and be detrimental to our health. Here are seven ways to wash away your worries:

How to stop worrying, tip 1: Forget the things you can’t change
If you’re worrying about something that’s happened in the past, you need to stop. The power of your mind isn’t strong enough to solve problems through panic, so it’s important to beat your worries by thinking logically and tackling them head-on. Bad memories from the past are toxic to our health and highly counterproductive so you must bury the burdens of your past and move on.

How to stop worrying, tip 2: Write a worry list

Write down everything you’re worried about; the bills, your job, the car MOT – everything. Then rate them on a scale of one to 10, with 10 being the things that are concerning you most. You can then turn your worry list into an action list. Take action on the worries that you rated the highest first, and then work through the rest of the list. You will feel a sense of relief each time you tick a worry off, and this is a sure-fire way to boost your happiness and relieve your worries.

How to stop worrying, tip 3: Discipline your thoughts
If you’re a chronic worrier, you need to learn to take control of your thoughts rather than letting them take control of you. To do this, every time you think a negative thought, you must turn it into a positive. Every time you worry, think “is this really helpful?” If the answer is no, turn the thought into a positive or forget it completely. Whilst this may seem difficult at first, it will eventually become second nature and you will find that turning a negative into a positive is a much more constructive way of dealing with your thoughts.

How to stop worrying, tip 4: Distract yourself through relaxation

When we’re worried – particularly about a number of things at once – our brains don’t tend to find a logical solution to our problems. In order to think logically, we must take the time to relax and unwind. Breathe in through your nose, and out through your mouth. After a couple of minutes of relaxation, the tension will leave your body and you will be in a better position to tackle the problem from a fresh perspective.Woman relaxing in bath with candles

How to stop worrying, tip 5: Talk to friends and family

A problem shared is a problem halved. Talk to your family, your friends, or a doctor if you have a good relationship with them. Sometimes saying your problems out loud can get your thoughts straight in your head and if you’re worrying about something useless, saying it out loud can make you realise that it’s just not worth the worry. With those close to you, you can laugh, cry, and moan as much as you like without being judged and this is a healthy way to relieve stress.

How to stop worrying, tip 6: Confront the problem head-on

Some worries can’t be tamed through talking to others or relaxation. A problem that won’t go away until you physically do something about it needs to be confronted head-on. Sometimes, we have so much on our mind that we don’t know what to deal with first. Make a decision on which problem you want to solve and how you will go about it, and then stick to it. You will probably find that once you resolve the problem, you’ll wish you’d done something about it sooner.

How to stop worrying tip 7: Put things into perspective

Don’t be overwhelmed by small things; try and see the bigger picture. Is your problem really as bad as you’re making it out to be? The chances are there will be many people worse off than you. Instead of zoning in on certain things and panicking about them, put everything into perspective. Does this problem affect your entire life? Will you still be panicking about this in a few weeks or months time? If the answer is no, then it’s really not worth the worry.

How to Sound Intelligent

We have all, at one point in our lives, tried hard to sound intelligent and fallen flat on our faces. Sounding intelligent is really an art.
But it doesn’t take much. Just a little practise. You must have seen people, particularly one or two men or women, who’d be the most vocal, at parties or social gatherings, discussing some controversial court case, or last night’s blistering knock by some cricketer. And you would’ve wondered, “Wow, these guys know a lot of stuff. How do they do that?” Yes, they do sound smart and knowledgeable, but not all of them really are. They have just done their homework well. You can too sound incredibly intelligent the next time you’re at a discussion if you follow these simple steps:

Read, watch, listen to smart things

What you read makes a ton of difference to how you sound. Know your current events at the back of your hand. Even if you spend 15-20 minutes just reading bite-size reviews of leading stories, even if you skim them, you will have enough stuff to talk about. “Yes, of course I read about the Army chief scandal. Such a shame.” You can pick up newspapers, or magazines like India Today, Outlook, The Week and brush up your knowledge. You can even make notes if you like for quick reference.
You can watch and listen to BBC news or CNN or even to good radio channels. Learn as much as you can about politics, world events, social matters, science, art and such. Even shows like 30 Rock, House, Big Bang Theory, CSI, and West Wing could make you smarter. It is true that the more you watch and read the more knowledgeable you become. Of course your choices should be mildly more intelligent than a Stardust or Filmfare magazine, or shows like E-news and TMZ. That stuff isn’t going to get you anywhere closer to being smart.
And always have facts to back your statements. You don’t want a stray comment to come back and bite you. If you think Aliens are for real, cite facts and figures etcetera to give credibility and weight to your claim.

Take a moment before you speak

It’s really okay if you take a moment before you respond to something. Process your thoughts. It is not advisable to say the first thing that comes to your mind. If someone is talking about Ayn Rand’s, ‘Atlas Shrugged’ and the concept of objectivism, and you say, “I don't need to read the book, I've already seen the movie”, they’ll probably throw their drinks on your face and walk away. It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t speak your mind; just think a little more. Maybe say, “I haven’t been able to read the book yet, but what are your thoughts on the movie?”

Oh my word!

Imagine you’re at a formal gathering, and you hear a person in a suit saying things like, ‘Dude, did you hear about this, uh, sh*t I’m going blank, umm, oh yeah, Facebook buying Instagram? Right? I know. That’s bl**dy awesome man. That’s the sh*t right there.’ It is perfectly fine to use this sort of language in front of your friends. There’s nothing wrong with it. It’s just inappropriate in a formal setup. If you want to sound intelligent, avoid colourful language, slangs, and fillers. They not only make you sound foolish and incompetent, they also give out an impression that you don’t have the slightest idea about what you want to say. It doesn’t mean you have to consult the thesaurus every second; just speak normally without the fluff: “You must have heard about the Facebook, Instagram deal? I suppose it’s going to do them a world of good.”

Watch it

You’re not competing for the world’s fastest conversationalist or the slowest. So watch the pace of your speech. Find out the optimum speed and stick to it. Along with the pace of your speech, proper pronunciation and grammar are equally important. People have a tough time with words starting with V and W. E.g.: it’s Victory, with a V sound, which is produced when your lower lip raises to touch the upper teeth; and it’s Water, an ‘Oo’ sound that is produced by having your lips form a tight circle. So brush up your pronunciation skills.
Basic grammar skills are as vital as knowing how to breathe. If someone says, “Him and me went to see the soccer game,” you might just laugh in their face. Everyone knows, it should be, “Him and I...” If it’s a slip of tongue, there’s no shame in correcting yourself: “What am I saying? I meant, Him and I...” If someone corrects you, there’s no need to get mad. Thank them and move on. It shows you’re mature and that it was an honest mistake.

Vocabulary

One of the ways to judge a person’s intelligence is his vocabulary. It doesn’t necessarily mean you try to use words like, floccinaucinihilipilification, which means an act or instance of judging something to be worthless or trivial. It means finding alternatives to regular words and using them intermittently (look it up if you don’t know what this means). For example: “That was a fancy wedding” can be replaced with “That was an ostentatious wedding.” Or, “He’s very fussy” can be replaced with “He’s very fastidious”. But how do you learn such flowery words? Well, you can use flash cards or just write them down in a notebook along with how to use them in a sentence. One word per day. That’s all. Pick a word from a book, dictionary or an online source. Note it down and use it in a sentence at work or at a social function. Don’t jump the gun. Wait for the opportunity to present itself. But don’t use a word until you’re confident enough to use it.

Press pause

If you have nothing intelligible to say, don’t say anything. It’s better than speaking gibberish. It’s fine to remain silent and observe. And you do not want to fake too much either, because if someone tries to hold an in-depth discussion on a particular topic you claim to have such an authority on, you will be a done duck.
Also, under no situation, use silly abbreviations: “BTW, I saw someone slip and fall. It was such a LOL moment, I wanted to LMAO, but I didn’t.” Not cool.
So you see, it’s not rocket science, this business of sounding smart. By making a few changes in your daily routine, you too can be the, ‘Oh-he’s-so-smart-I-hate-him’ guy. Try these tips today. Go on then, don’t be shy.

Begin your day with a glass of juice

Jumpstart your day with freshly-squeezed fruit and vegetable juices. They work wonders for your body and mind. Here are a few options for you.
juice is not a complete meal
It is unwise to adopt juicing as a meal replacement. Ideally, you have to consume it with your meal or as an in-between snack. It should be an addition to your regular meals.
Acne and pimples
Your skin shows up different types of bumps when sebum (oil) gets blocked and bacteria begin to grow. These bumps can be blackheads, whiteheads, pimples or cysts.
Your formula: Juice one lemon and add to one cup of hot water. Drink first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
Why: Fresh lemon juice purifies the blood by removing metabolic waste and by changing blood pH from acid to alkaline.
Constipation
Constipation is a common digestive problem that makes it difficult for you to have a regular bowel movement. Your stools become hard, making it difficult for you to pass without strain. It is common in pregnant women.
Your formula: Carrot 20 tbsp + beetroot six tbsp + cucumber six tbsp.
Why: Drinking beet regularly helps relieve constipation. Beetroot and carrot juice, when combined, are excellent in curing gout, kidney and gall bladder problems. Cucumber is also a dependable laxative food. It supplies bulk to aid bowel action.
Allergies
Your eyes are itching or you're sneezing all the time. It indicates that the allergy bug has struck you again. An allergy is a reaction of your immune system to something that does not bother most other people.
Your formula: Carrot 12 tbsp + celery four tbsp + pineapple four tbsp + beetroot two tbsp
Why: Pineapple contains bromelain (enzyme) which is known as a treatment for inflammation and swelling of the nose, ear, and sinus. The natural organic sodium (salt) in celery is very safe for consumption. In fact, it is essential for the body.

Menopause
Menopause is the transition period in a woman's life when her ovaries stop producing eggs. Menstruation becomes less frequent, eventually stopping altogether. Hot flushes, night sweats and vaginal bleeding and itching are common symptoms.
Your formula: Carrot 18 tbsp + beetroot six tbsp + pomegranate eight tbsp
Why: Pomegranate is touted as a wonder fruit since it shows promise in improving depression and bone mineral density.
Blood pressure
High blood pressure (HBP) or hypertension means high pressure in the arteries. Normal blood pressure is below 120/80. If your blood pressure is 140/90 or above, it is considered high.
Your formula: Carrot 16 tbsp + 4 cloves of garlic
Why: Eating garlic lowers blood pressure and cholesterol levels, thereby reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. Allicin compound and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in garlic are responsible for relaxing blood vessels, thereby improving blood flow in the arteries.
Diabetes
Diabetes is a chronic condition in which your blood sugar levels are high. It doesn't have a permanent solution but the right diet and exercises can help control the sugar level to prevent further problems.
Your formula: Carrots 12 tbsp + brussel sprouts 10 tbsp + string beans 10 tbsp
Why: The pods of string beans or french beans are a medium strength diuretic, stimulating urine flow and the flushing of toxins from the body. Also, brussel sprouts are rich in fibre and vitamin C.

Cold, fever and flu
There is no immediate cure for common cold. It needs to be treated internally. For the flu, your doc might suggest pills or a syrup to fight off the virus. But why become a slave to medication when you can cure yourself with vegetable juice?
Your formula: Carrot eight tbsp + orange eight tbsp + lemon two tbsp + four cloves of garlic
Why: Carrots, oranges and lemons are a great source of natural vitamin C. Garlic is well known as nature's antibiotic and hence can treat common cold and aid in faster recovery.

Obesity
Obesity means having too much body fat. It is not the same as being overweight. A person may be overweight from extra muscle, bone or water, as well as from having too much fat.
Your formula: Carrot 22 tbsp + Cabbage 10 tbsp or spinach 32 tbsp
Why: Spinach contains a range of active substances which are indispensable to the body. Also, cabbage juice impedes conversion of carbohydrates to fats and hence is beneficial in controlling obesity.

Play it safe
Be pesticide free:
Even under the best soil, sprays and pesticides enter plants and roots and are absorbed by them. Wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly with cold running water; use a stiff brush if necessary.
Clean your juicer: Cleaning any kind of juicing equipment doesn't take more than 10 minutes. So stop giving excuses, and clean your juicer immediately after use, to prevent any remnants from contaminating the juicer.
Avoid storing it: If you're planning to juice first thing in the morning and consume it later, it's not a good idea. Juices are perishable, so it's best to drink them immediately. If you're careful, you can store a juice for 24 hours but with moderate nutritional decline.

Why not eat them?
You are probably wondering, "Why not eat the whole vegetables and fruits instead of extracting the juice and discarding the fibre?" The answer is, solid foods require many hours of digestive activity before their nourishment is finally available to the cells and tissues of the body. However, the removal of the fibres in the extraction of the juices enables them to be quickly digested and assimilated with minimum of effort.

To make it more palatable
If you're not a pro-juice person and cringe at the thought of downing bland liquids, try these tricks to make your juice tastier:
Lime and lemons: Add a quarter or half a lemon to the juice. It is a rich source of vitamin C. Moreover, it contains 5 per cent citric acid, which gives it a sharp pungent taste.
Cranberries: If you love cranberries, add some to your juice. Cranberries have 5 times the antioxidant content of broccoli, which means they may protect against cancer, stroke and heart disease. Limit the cranberries to about 8 tbsp per pint of juice.
Fresh ginger: If you like the taste of fresh ginger, grate it and add it to your juice to give it a little kick. It's great in lowering cholesterol levels.

Yoga for your eyes

A few poses that may be safely practiced to help maintain eye sight:

Trataka (Yogic focusing exercise)
Hold your right hand in front of you. Extend the thumb, folding back other fingers lightly. Ensure hand is at eye level. Look at thumbnail. Then switch focus to nose tip. Back at right thumbnail, then switching focus to nose tip. This is one round. Rest your eyes. Do palming (see above). Do up to five rounds. Then switch hands, to do for left hand. Do palming after each round.

Benefits: This helps with the eye's ability to switch focus from distant to close viewing. Most problems, according to yogic occur when the eye muscles slacken and do not accommodate this important skill. Unlike with reading a book, staring at a computer screen reduces our vision skills, creating eye problems. This exercise rectifies this. Plus, when done regularly can boost mental focus. It is also advised for insomniacs.

Avoid: If having glaucoma or cataract.

Palming
Rub palms together. Place them gently on closed eye-lids so the cups of the hand cover the eye-lids. The palms should feel the eye socket. This would ensure that your holding the hand over the eye in a correct position. There should be no pressure. This is called palming and may be practiced several times during the day for a quick rest, not just for the eyes but for the mind too. If the duration of the final hold (of palm over eyelid) is lengthened and if palming is done several times during the day, it is believed that eye problems will be controlled.

Benefits: It soothes eyes strained by an effort to see. Also, keeping the eyes in a dark, soothing mode creates a healing impact by tweaking the master glands, like pineal gland, which reacts to excessive exposure to light or artificial lighting by hitting sleep etc. In yogic eye exercises palming is seen as the most important of healing exercises.
